Greaux the Good: new statewide Market Match program increases partner count to twelve in order to support farmers & feed families

Greaux the Good has been providing funding and administrative support to Louisiana farmers markets and farm stands to assist with the creation or expansion of  Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) incentive programs and has also begun supporting Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) incentive programs at select existing partner locations. Greaux the Good will also be bringing on FMNP incentive program-only partners. Greaux the Good continues to equip and empower families to purchase more fresh, local, and healthy foods while generating more business for local farmers and qualified food businesses. 


The Greaux the Good program has recently added two new partners: Alexandria Farmers Market and Natchitoches Farmers Market.

The current total of statewide Greaux the Good partners is twelve! Current partner locations and participating market match programs include:

Greaux the Good funds direct incentives at partner locations and has also allocated funding to support personnel and operational expenses related to program implementation. Greaux the Good is operated by Market Umbrella, a nonprofit organization based in New Orleans that operates the Crescent City Farmers Markets and several fresh food access programs. This program was made possible through funds allocated in the 2022-2023 state budget, which set a precedent for state support of farmers markets in Louisiana.
